What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese word meaning universal life force energy. It refers to an ancient system of natural hands-on healing thought to have its origins in Tibetan Buddhism and which was re-discovered by Dr Mikao Usui in the late 1800’s in Japan. It is in widespread use today as a complementary therapy and wonderful aid to relaxation and stress relief.

How does Reiki work?

The way that Reiki works is that it balances our energy and in so doing assists us to heal, i.e. return to a state of health and harmony, at any level of being: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. During a Reiki treatment we automatically receive an additional supply of energy which our body knows exactly how to use for our greatest benefit at any given time. Thus, by improving our energy flow in this way, Reiki brings many benefits and helps us to relax, self-heal, feel lighter and happier in our being and see things more clearly.

Who is Reiki healing suitable for?

Reiki treatments can be given to anyone, young or old, and there are no harmful side effects. During a treatment you simply lie comfortably and fully clothed on a couch while the therapist places their hands in a non-intrusive sequence of positions on (or near) the head and body. You don’t have to do anything at all.
